Inside Up Games has launched the Kickstarter campaign for Earth: Animal Kingdom, the latest expansion for the engine-building board game Earth. The expansion introduces 36 new animals and a set of 56 animeeples. The expansion promises new asymmetrical strategies and movement-based gameplay.
Each animal in Animal Kingdom has unique abilities, so players can build ecosystems that align with their chosen creatures. The animeeples, which move through cards in the tableau, trigger abilities as they traverse the terrain. Animal Kingdom also introduces new Fauna Objectives and Global Abilities. Fauna Objectives now interact directly with the animals in your tableau. Global Abilities activate each round, granting all players the chance to benefit with proper planning.
The expansion is modular and fully compatible with both the base game and the Earth: Abundance expansion. It was designed to enhance variability and replayability while keeping game time efficient. The designer, Maxime Tardif, noted that one of the main goals was to give each session a distinct personality, allowing players to connect more deeply with the game through the inclusion of animals that move, act, and score differently.
Backers who pledge within the first 24 hours will have their name printed inside the box. Early pledges also include bonus content such as panoramic Readiness Tokens, a wooden start player token, and a Fauna Tree promo for returning backers or followers of the campaign.
Earth: Animal Kingdom is scheduled to be delivered after the campaign concludes. The campaign is live now and can be found on Kickstarter.
