A Young girl named Shin-Ae Yoo struggles with the hardships of life. Her father is in bad health. Shin-Ae’s mother hasn’t been around since she was a child, and her sister was taken during the divorce. Soon, she and her father will be evicted unless she can help come up with enough money for rent. Through all of these occurrences, Shin-Ae takes it upon herself to get not one, but two jobs. She works while still in high-school, doing her best to make it to school and still get to work on time. Can she keep up this lifestyle? Read on to find out in this Webtoon Review of I Love Yoo.
I Love Yoo is a Webtoon comic created by Quimchee. The story focuses on Shin-Ae as she does her best to get by in life. One day, due to seemingly random happenstance (or was it fate?) She accidentally throws her cup of soda on an extremely important man, ruining his clothes. Little does she know that it would start a rather unique friendship, which would result in meeting more important and well-connected people. Her problems take a turn for the worse as she tries to survive not only in life but in a world run by arrogant, entitled people who look down on her for being herself.
The art style in I Love Yoo is rather unique. The characters have big, expressive, and colorful eyes. This is a feature I quite like! The only issue I have with the art itself is that sometimes it looks a little rushed. This could simply be due to the artist not having as much time as they would like, or having a busy schedule, though. If I had to describe the art I would say it is pretty, expressive, and aggressive! Which is a weird way to describe art, I realize. What I mean by aggressive is that it suits the comic well. Shin-Ae herself can be pretty aggressive and her face reflects that in the way it’s drawn.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoy this comic. I personally feel as though it isn’t for everyone, but It’s definitely for me! It has an interesting story and an even more interesting protagonist. I keep reading just to find out what will happen to her, and to see if her life will ever get on the right track. I recommend reading this comic. However keep in mind that things don’t ever seem to settle or get resolved right away, and rather than anything getting fixed, more problems seem to arise. That’s just the kind of story it is!
I Love Yoo is on Webtoon and it was created by Quimchee. You can read it for free right now! It’s currently on episode 111 and it updates every Friday.
