Aksys Games has a nice diverse array of titles that cater to various tastes, from high-energy shoot ’em ups to immersive otome visual novels. Whether you’re gunning down alien fleets, managing a café while raising a dragon, or unraveling magical mysteries, there’s something for everyone. As if that’s not enough, Aksys might just have the best visual novel on the Switch. Here are the 10 best Aksys games on the Nintendo Switch.

    Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax

Who is it for? Stardust Galaxy Warriors is yet another arcade-style shooter on the Nintendo Switch, but it’s one of the best on the console. It’s perfect for shoot ’em up fans, but it is also great for couch co-op, as it supports up to four players in local play Like most games in the genre, players can be as casual or as hardcore as they want, as this game gives players tons of post-game challenges and high scores to chase down.

    Little Dragons Café

Who is it for? Little Dragons Café is there for lovers of comfy games and storytelling. It’s got a nice amount of exploration within its charming, storybook-like setting. It’s a heartwarming adventure that combines café management with the joy of raising a magical creature, appealing to fans of gentle, immersive gameplay. It suffers from performance issues and long load times, but if players can work past these shortcomings, they will find a game that’s easy to love.

    Paradigm Paradox

Who is it for? Paradigm Paradox is here for the hardcore otome fans who have already exhausted most of the best ones on the Switch and don’t want to scrape at the bottom of the barrel. This visual novel is solid, and while the other visual novels on this list are significantly better, it still does a few neat things with its twist on magical girl elements. If you are new to the genre and want to play a better game, scroll on, but any hardcore fan who has likely played the other otome games on the list won’t be too disappointed with this solid and creative effort.

    Horgihugh And Friends

Who is it for? It’s hard for me to determine which game is better: Horgihugh and Friends or Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax. What I do know is that Horgihugh and Friends offers a much cuter yet challenging experience. Fans of cute ’em ups will adore what Horgihugh and Friends brings to the table, complete with numerous high scores to pursue and an array of neat upgrades tailored for the hardcore audience.

    Spirit Hunter: Death Mark

Who is it for? Anyone who loves the Ace Attorney games but wants to play a horror variant of the series will love what the Spirit Hunter series offers. Death Mark is the first entry on the Switch and it features excellent psychological horror while players explore environments and defeat spooky creatures by recalling information and utilizing key items. The blend of visual novel, point-and-click, and detective elements make Death Mark one of the best horror games on the console.

    Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]

Who is it for? While the Switch doesn’t have the best lineup of fighting games, it still has some 2D bangers. Anyone itching for a fighting game that already has Blazblue or Guilty Gear should check out Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]. The title is annoying, but the gameplay is excellent, and it has plenty of modes and tutorials available to get new players battle-ready.

    Variable Barricade

Who is it for? Variable Barricade is a treat for otome enthusiasts who enjoy a mix of comedy, romance, and an art style that rules. This one has a great translation and interesting characters, but not every route is excellent. In fact, only two routes are really noteworthy, but those two routes more than makeup for the rest of the game, making Variable Barricade more than worth the price of admission.

    Olympia Soirée

Who is it for? Fans of otome games who want a visual novel with a protagonist that actually develops throughout the story will love Olympia Soirée. As great as the dynamic cast is, the plot does have a few holes, and not everything gets resolved, but it’s so easy to fall for the gang and art that it’s easy to forgive the few shortcomings of Olympia Soirée.

    Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi

Who is it for? Like shoot ’em ups and visual novels, there are a whole lot of dungeon crawling games on the Nintendo Switch. There are also a lot of good ones. Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi is excellent for hardcore fans of the genre who appreciate deep strategic gameplay with horror elements. There is a lot of character customization available, and the battles can feel like puzzles that players need to solve with the many classes to choose from. It’s an excellent dungeon crawler that stands with the best games in the genre.

    Jack Jeanne

Who is it for? Jack Jeanne is not only Aksys’ best game on the Nintendo Switch – it might be the best visual novel on the Switch. It’s a stellar blend of otome elements, rhythm gameplay, and a compelling narrative. Fans of rhythm games will love its performance challenges, while otome game enthusiasts will swoon at the deep, meaningful interactions and relationships.
