MAGES Inc. and publisher PQube, have announced Iwakura Aria, an original visual novel set in 1960s Japan. The title will launch digitally on August 14, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Steam and is MAGES’ first new IP in three years. A physical edition for the Nintendo Switch is also planned.

Iwakura Aria follows the story of Ichiko Kitagawa, a young orphan recruited to work as a maid in the Iwakura household on the outskirts of Tokyo. As she becomes close to the household’s mysterious and delicate daughter, Ichiko discovers disturbing truths. The narrative blends historical drama and psychological suspense.
The game features nine different endings, with player choices influencing how Ichiko’s future unfolds decades after the main story. Players will explore the mansion via a navigable map system, gather clues, and use Ichiko’s sketchbook to record key observations and hidden details.

The game includes illustrations by Hyakunen and creative scene composition from designer Nakada Fumi, including layered cut-out frames that combine multiple perspectives into a single visual.
Pre-orders for Iwakura Aria are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop in the US and EU, with a 10% discount. Steam users will receive a launch day discount. A new gameplay trailer has also been released, offering a preview of the game’s tone and visuals.
