UPDATED MAY 29, 2018: This morning, Yakuza producer Toshihiro Nagoshi said that the remakes of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 are being made for fans of the series outside of Japan.
In a livestream, Nagoshi talked about how the remasters would be complete remakes of each game and would include all content from each installment.
Nagoshi’s statement is not an official confirmation that the games will come to the West, but it is definitely a possibility considering the recent successes the series has experienced in the United States.
ORIGINAL: Sega has announced that it is planning to release remasters of the third, fourth, and fifth titles in the main series on the Playstation 4 over the course of 2018 and 2019. According to the latest issue of Dengeki Playstation (reported by Gematsu), Sega plans to release these title in Japan starting with Yakuza 3 on August 9th of this year. Development on the Yakuza 3 remaster is said to be 90 percent completed.
There are no plans of the remasters coming to the West currently, but with the recent success of Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza 6 in the West (as well as Yakuza Kiwami 2 coming to the West in August) there is a possibility we could see these titles in the coming years.
