The Wolfman of Wulvershire
WEBTOON
Creator: K. Oliver
A lovely dinner party is interrupted before the host can even make an appearance. At the Duke of Wulvershire’s annual spring fling “wine and dine” party, one of the dancers performing on stage suddenly drops dead when the lights cut out. Lady Carina, her sister Brianna, and their “friend” Sergeant Dane find themselves wrapped up in a murder mystery that somehow all relate back to an ancient curse. Is it really the work of magic? Or does someone have a blood lust with a vengeance? Check out the Webcomic “The Wolfman of Wulvershire” to find out.
Lady Carina doesn’t usually attend these sorts of things, but she soon is glad she did when she meets an elf named Vakaren. He’s tall dark and handsome, and just her type. (Though she doesn’t want to settle down.) However, he seems to already know her, and she can’t remember him for the life of her.
The artwork in The Wolfman of Wulvershire is beautiful. I found the characters to be very expressive. The only issue I have with the art style is how “fluid” it is. In very rare instances, the way the characters are drawn seems to curve in such a way that makes their bodies look odd. However, this doesn’t happen a lot. It mostly seems to occur when the focus isn’t entirely on the characters themselves, while they’re in the background. It certainly didn’t hurt the rating of this comic any.
Though what did hurt the art rating was how inconsistent the backgrounds are. In just the first episode, the background of the carriage is at first colored, and then mostly ignored in favor of detailing the characters. In my honest opinion, the artist should have spent a bit more time on the background. Adding some color and detail would have made the bland background stand out far less against a colorful and expressive character. It is a little jarring in comparison.
All in all, this comic is lovely. I think the story has great potential. The Wolfman of Wulvershire may only be a few episodes in, but I am dying to know where the story leads. Currently, It is on episode 8. “The Wolfman of Wulvershire” updates every Tuesday! Check it out on Webtoon!
