AntiSTALKER
Webtoon
VOKIVORMOK
Vampires and Werewolves have been popular supernatural beings in the media for hundreds of years. A quick Google search will bring up any and every movie ever made that involves these two species but in order to go through a list that long you’ll need at least a year. However, in all of the media coverage, I don’t think I’ve ever seen something that brings them together WITH humans, in a way that openly admits what they are. Until now, at least. This Webtoon Review of AntiStalker will explain just what I mean.
AntiSTALKER is a Webtoon that features a unique relationship between the three species. In AntiStalker, Werewolves, Vampires, and even humans co-exist together in relative harmony, so it seems. AntiStalker takes place in a school called Red Moon High, which is the first school to allow all three races to attend. There doesn’t seem to be any specific Hierarchy of power, either. However, our main characters are very specifically members of the disciplinary committee.
The president is a very powerful vampire named Kira. The Vice President is a werewolf boy named Yulai, and the secretary is “a plain human secretary” named Marina. These three are essential to the school, as they keep the peace between the three races, and punish anyone who dare hurt a fellow student. Only the strongest student can be the Disciplinary committee president, and Kira definitely seems to fit the bill. That is until the Student Body President returns, a Vampire from a royal clan. He has mysterious abilities that can stop Kira’s body from reacting with just a look. And he’s her Antistalker.
His name is August, and truthfully he appears to be a childhood friend of Kira’s, or at least they had some sort of relationship in the past. For a yet unknown reason, Kira does not remember him at all, and he is still in love with her. Through a wacky series of events, he agrees to pretend to be stalking her to try to jog her memory, even though it only seems to be making her angry. She isn’t even aware that he is the Student Body President, a highly respected official. All she knows is that he’s creepy and he won’t leave her alone.
The art in this webtoon is adorable. I love the lanky looking character designs and the colors seem to really pop. The characters’ expressions all accurately convey their emotions, too. For the most part, the backgrounds are simplistic, just colored squares behind the character’s portrait, but when the artist does draw backgrounds they are rather nice if just a little stiff looking. The art itself isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t say it’s wonderful either. I think it suits very particular tastes, I just happen to like it, personally.
All in all, I rather like this comic. It’s only 4 episodes in but I think it’s shaping up really well. It’s definitely more of a comedic relief kind of comic, so if you’re looking for a laugh and a compelling (get it? Vampires? See what I did there?) story, I’d recommend reading it!
A high school where Werewolves, Vampires, and Humans Co-exist. The disciplinary committee keeps everyone in line, but the president of the disciplinary committee has a new stalker, and he's stronger than she is! It's a very fun read with cute characters!
