It is the year 2099. The President of the United States has made a law that all communication must use correct grammar. Any incorrect usage of grammar can lead to getting fired, being denied public service, or being jailed. As a fresh graduate of theoretical mathematics who made grammar your lowest priority, you apply for a job as a janitor at Grammarian Ltd., the biggest grammar validation agency. Due to some mix-up and pure luck, you are assigned the role of a grammar validator for Grammarian Ltd. You take this opportunity to improve your grammar and work your way up through the company from a junior intern.
The gameplay is relatively straightforward. As a grammar validator, your job is to find grammar mistakes and edit them in assigned documents. Each day begins with reading the brief, which explains the grammar concept of the day. Everything from singular nouns to subjunctive moods is covered in the briefs. Then you go about your editing tasks. The day ends around 4 pm and you need to have all your documents submitted to earn your wage for the day.
The money earned can be used to upgrade your apartment, buy consumables to refill your energy and stamina levels, buy decorations for your apartment, buy new music tracks, or used different modes of transportation for work.
Grammarian Ltd. is actually a really fun educational game. You get to learn about new grammar concepts, and there were quite a few that I haven’t heard of before. But the most fun part is editing the documents and trying to attain a perfect grammar score. You are timed for editing and your time is up at the end of the workday, so it’s best to try to get to work as early as possible.
The “boss battles” that occur after you have finished each concept is an editing battle with another editor. If you win the battle, you are promoted and your workspace becomes nicer too. You also get a raise. Even if you fail the battles, you get more chances to try again until you become victorious.
I highly recommend this game to people looking to improve their grammar or just want a fun educational game in general. However, I recommend this game to fluent English readers. The language used in the briefs is not meant for English as a Second Language learners as it’s quite detailed. This would make a great game for high school and early college students if they want to expand their grammar knowledge. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Grammarian Ltd.
