PSVR is a fantastic platform for giving players incredible and exciting experiences. It’s also a great tool for giving players soothing and captivating adventures. Fujii is a wonderful mix of incredible and soothing, and offers players a chance to sit back and water a lot of plants.

Fujii is an odd little game by Funktronic Labs that places the player in a world full of plants and color. The player gets to explore a few biomes where they will water plants, solve puzzles, and bring life back to the environment. Players can then bring back various seeds to their own personal garden and life to their own space.

The gameplay couldn’t be more simple, making it accessible to just about anyone. It’s a quiet game that requires almost zero skill to play. Even the puzzles are light, with the hardest ones being similar to Simon, the children’s game. Players will collect little lights of energy and water plants, which opens the world up further. Most of the joy in Fujii comes from exploring the world, relaxing, and of course, taking in the world.

Fujii has rather simple graphics, but they are effective. When the player starts, the world will be almost entirely black space. As energy is restored back to the biomes, the world begins to fill with life again. Exploration is constantly rewarded with dazzling visuals, new plants to look at, and curious sites. It’s all so peaceful, and players will never feel rushed to go forward.  It’s one of the few games out there where you can simply sit back and enjoy your surroundings.

It’s easy enough to navigate around Fujii. Players will use Move controllers to use every action. Movement is limited to teleportation, which takes getting used to but doesn’t negatively impact the experience too much. There aren’t really any comfort options, but this game is unlikely to make anyone uncomfortable. If anything it would be nice for the game to loosen up and at least allow for smooth turning. Still, I had very few issues with controls.

For those looking for a game to relax in, Fujii is one of the best choices possible. It’s relaxing, creative, and just feels cozy. The over-emphasis on player comfort holds it back just a bit, but this is still a great experience.

Marcus isn't good at a lot, but he is an expert at replaying Final Fantasy games despite there being a lot of good stuff out there. He also loves comics, board games, and anime. He thinks Chip Zdarsky is a treasure.
