Ciel Fledge: A Daughter Raising Simulator

Nintendo Switch
Raising children is difficult. It’s even more difficult when the child you are raising was found in the wastelands with no memories of her past. This is Ciel Fledge, a simulator in which the player must raise their adopted daughter in the future in which humanity doesn’t live on the surface of Earth and there is a constant risk of an alien invasion.
After a brief introduction to your new daughter (Named Ciel), the player will start raising her immediately. Players will begin scheduling Ciel’s first week of activities without knowing if they are doing a good job or not. There is a ton to do. Should Ciel study civics or work on her gymnastics? Should she make friends or study art? Ciel’s activities aren’t the only thing that players need to worry about. Her meals are important too, and the player needs to decide what she eats. If you want to feed her better food, you need money. Of course, work too hard and you won’t develop a close relationship with her. It’s a big balancing act that becomes riveting once the player gets a grasp on everything.
The game is full of systems and meters to keep track of that the player might feel overwhelmed in the beginning. Fortunately, there are tons of tutorials to make sure that everything is at least understandable. There are so many tutorials in the early games that players will likely get tired of it all. Still, it’s all necessary for building a strong foundation for players, making it easier to get absorbed in all taking care of your daughter.
In addition to the raising system, Ciel Fledge also has a battle system that uses a puzzle matching mechanic. These battles will help Ciel pass quizzes, win card games, or actually fight for her safety. Effectively managing her time and building her stats will help Ciel succeed in these situations. Building bonds with the various NPCs also helps her build more support during combat.
The various characters are diverse and full of personality. Ciel Fledge has plain but charming writing that makes the characters endearing and easy to fall for. The writing is a bit stiff at times, but that won’t stop players from enjoying the story itself. Ciel herself is easy to love, and players will find themselves wanting to give her what is best. Ciel Fledge does a great job of connecting the player to Ciel in little time, making the game an immersive experience. The game is so immersive that players will find themselves constantly wanting to do just one more week. The progression feels natural and has good pacing, making it easy to get lost in Ciel Fledge.
Ciel Fledge is aesthetically pleasing. It uses simple, clean art that makes each character instantly recognizable. There is very little movement, instead of the character sprites slightly move up and down to simulate breathing. If a character leaves the room it is demonstrated by their portrait simply sliding out of the screen. It’s not immersive but it gets the job done. Even if there aren’t a lot of resources put into the visuals, the character designs are still charming.
The sound effects are lively and chirpy, adding to the quaint values of Ciel Fledge. The music is fun and cheerful, making this game an overall lighthearted experience. Over the course of the game, some of the sound effects will start to get annoying, but there isn’t anything offensive here.
Ciel Fledge is a unique experience that will capture players if they are the target audience. Watching Ciel grow is a joyful experience, and getting to shape her growth is satisfying. It’s a text-heavy adventure, so those who want exciting action might find themselves uninterested in this one. Still, all of the systems and characters to engage with makes Ciel Fledge worth checking out.
