Class of Heroes 2G: Remastered Edition refines the mechanics from the original and offers a polished follow-up for fans of old-school dungeon crawlers. New quests, diverse classes, and a solid challenge make this an improvement over the original in almost every way.

For Class of Heroes 2G: Remastered Edition, the gameplay has been enhanced with many improvements over its predecessor. Players form a party of adventurers again, selecting from an even larger pool of classes and races to create the ideal party. There are over 100 dungeons to traverse in this entry. Turn-based combat remains challenging, especially during tough boss battles, so players will need to think through encounters rather than brutely force their way through, even if they are over-leveled. Quality-of-life upgrades, such as removing the need for identifying items and introducing Magic Points for spellcasting, make the experience smoother and more accessible than the original.

The game’s difficulty is high, especially early on, but with improvements to pacing, progression feels more satisfying. Quests are varied, ranging from simple fetch tasks to more complex missions, with some requiring smaller parties. The ability to replay quests for valuable items adds to the game’s depth.

Unfortunately, the inventory management system can still feel cumbersome, and certain dungeons with warp mechanics or tricky layouts may frustrate even veteran players. Despite this, the game’s scope and tactical elements offer a fulfilling, if sometimes daunting, experience for fans of old-school dungeon crawlers.

Class of Heroes 2G: Remastered Edition features improvements in its presentation with improved artwork and sound design. The character and monster designs are much more detailed, and they still maintain the sense of humor that the previous entry had. However, low-quality audio remains an issue, with compressed sound effects that frankly ruins moments.

Marcus isn't good at a lot, but he is an expert at replaying Final Fantasy games despite there being a lot of good stuff out there. He also loves comics, board games, and anime. He thinks Chip Zdarsky is a treasure.
