    Runtime: 46 minutes

This episode of Titans features a lot of Ryan Potter as Gar Logan, and I’m really happy about that. If you haven’t noticed, he just hasn’t been in this second season too much. In the very first episode of this season he mostly just gets beat to crap by every other character. At the time everyone else was under some mind control, but still. And then after the third episode, he just disappears, popping up for two seconds here and there. But this episode is his time to shine! Mostly.

Coming in from another flashback episode, Dick Grayson tells both the old and new Titans the truth about Jericho. In a pretty fair response, the team splits up again, leaving Dick and Gar Logan the only two at the tower. And then Dick decides to leave, leaving Gar alone with an unconscious and naked Superboy.

If there’s an MVP of this episode it’s going to Ryan Potter. Despite not having a big role in this season, I appreciate the performance he gives whenever he pops up. And this episode is about 40% his. The other 60% would be split between Starfire, Dick Grayson, and Hawk and Dove. Don’t get me wrong, everyone here is great, but we just haven’t seen Ryan Potter as much as everyone else. Especially towards the end of the episode, when he’s hanging around with Joshua Orpin’s Superboy, you can see the enthusiasm the character has for being a hero.

That’s the lighter part of this episode though. And even then by the end, everything is kind of a downer. The Titans pair off when they leave, Hank and Dawn, Donna Troy and Rachel, Jason Todd and Rose Wilson. Starfire has to go deal with stuff concerning her sister, Blackfire. Jason Todd/Rose and Rachel and Donna Troy just disappear from the episode. They leave, get in separate cars, and then we see Rachel leave donna and that’s it. I’m not really complaining about it, but it is what it is. I don’t want to go into specifics, but basically Hank and Dawn run into a pretty intense personal problem, leading to them splitting up.

Dick seeks atonement (hey!) with Jericho’s mother for the death of her son but runs into Slade Wilson. The encounter leaves him in a pretty unhinged, self-destructive place. By the end of the episode, he’s fighting cops in an airport to get arrested. I think most everyone is expecting Nightwing to pop up before the season is over, I know I am. There are only four episodes left this season, so there might be a quick turnaround coming up. As it stands now, season two of Titans has nine solid episodes under its belt.

    Titans Season 2 Episode 9

    8.0 Like It

"Atonement" the ninth episode of Titans season 2 sees the group once more break-up and follows some of the characters figuring out life after the Titans. The story continues in its natural direction and fantastic performances from all the actors and actresses. Not too many special effects in the episode, but where they are, they're not the best.
