Cygames is working on maintenance on Shadowverse, which means the whales will soon be able to purchase cards from the World Uprooted expansion a week early. With the end of the Ultimate Colosseum meta approaching, I wanted to take a look at some of my favorite decks from this expansion.
Guardian Forest
Guardian Forest took the idea of Holy Lion and made it much more enjoyable. This isn’t the fastest deck in the game, and It sure isn’t the best, but it just felt good to play. Guardian Forest does a fine job at handling both the early game and late game, with multiple tools that cost 1 play point and Lymaga as a potent finisher. Guardian Forest isn’t getting any direct support in World Uprooted, so it’s hard to say if the deck will stick around. Either way, this will always be one of my favorite all-time forest decks.
Evolution Sword
This is a deck that didn’t really emerge until after the mini-expansion, but I’m glad it did. Sure, it was a little overtuned, but that doesn’t stop Evolution Sword from just being fun to play with. The evolve mechanic is what makes Shadowverse special, and this deck did a fine job of showcasing that. It’s aggressive, interactive, and full of useful tools to handle most decks. I personally enjoyed the Levin variant quite a bit, even if it wasn’t quite as potent as the pure version of the deck. Hopefully, this deck can stick around while not being too oppressive during World Uprooted.
Float Portal
Float Portal was probably the worse meta deck in Ultimate Colosseum, but it was so satisfying to win with. The various cards leaving Play Points on the table led to tons of decisions to make for players. Should they play more followers to build a stronger board presence or pass on a turn to take advantage of some powerful effects? Heaven’s Gate is what truly made Float Portal a wild ride. Cheating out a Turn 7 Omniscient Kaiser is always satisfying, and as hard to do as you would think.
Aggro Blood
Aggro Blood will be remembered fondly just because it did so well against a couple of the Tier 1 decks. The deck did a fantastic job at rushing oppressive and annoying decks like Shikigami Rune and Valdain Dragon. It always took a bit of luck to pull off and didn’t do well against just about every other deck, but that doesn’t stop this deck from solidifying itself into the Ultimate Colosseum Hall of Fame.
Youkai Shadow
While I usually don’t play a lot of Shadowcraft, Youkai Shadow felt a bit different. The idea of giving followers with either 1 attack or defense storm is absolutely bonkers. Most of the cards are full of fun effects to consider, with tons of decisions to make when it comes to evolutions, enhance, and Necromancy effects. Ginsetsu was always just a bit overturned and could do without the drain effect, but I otherwise love this deck.
