In a surprising collaboration, Renegade Game Studios announced two additions to their lineup: G.I. JOE: Battle for the Arctic Circle and Transformers Robo Rally. These games, set to release in 2024, bring together iconic brands and classic tabletop games.
Bradley Bowman, Senior Licensing Director of Global Toy and Game at Hasbro, conveyed his excitement: “We are eager to bring fans new expressions of Axis & Allies and Robo Rally through the storytelling lens of two of our iconic brands – G.I. JOE and Transformers. Through Renegade’s imaginative mashups with our classic tabletop strategy games, we are truly celebrating the spirit of action and adventure that our brands represent.”
G.I. JOE: Battle for the Arctic Circle
Teaming up with Hasbro, Renegade is utilizing the Axis & Allies gameplay engine to breathe life into G.I. JOE: Battle for the Arctic Circle. This game serves as a tribute to the legendary franchise, enabling players to command the valiant G.I. JOE forces or the cunning Cobra, as they vie for supremacy over the Arctic Circle.
With more than 110 figures to choose from, including vehicles like the Snow Cat, W.O.L.F., Skystriker, and Rattler, players are poised for a unique experience. Renegade Game Studios introduces innovative strategic options to the battlefield, allowing commanders to employ tactics like harnessing the Weather Dominator to freeze the sea, thereby blocking pathways or forging crucial land bridges.
Scott Gaeta, President, and Publisher at Renegade Game Studios, expressed his excitement: “G.I. JOE was the perfect fit for our new line of games powered by Axis & Allies. Now fans of wargames and the world’s ultimate fighting force can come together for an epic experience.”
Transformers Robo Rally
A symphony of two iconic franchises, Transformers Robo Rally melds the time-tested Robo Rally gameplay with Transformers characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Six distinct Transformers robots await players’ choices, each boasting personalized upgrades that confer unique advantages and identities. As players switch between bot and alt (vehicle) modes, they confront a dynamic array of challenges presented by roads, buildings, and obstacles. The game introduces four new double-sided game boards, each showcasing the urban and desert landscapes of Velocitron, the racing haven.
Scott Gaeta shared his enthusiasm for this crossover sensation: “What a perfect fit! We knew we wanted to do a Transformers racing game and the stars aligned with Robo Rally! Now Transformers fans can compete on Velocitron in a game fueled by Richard Garfield’s original Robo Rally design with additional design by the Renegade R&D team.”
