Undead Unluck chapter 26 lets Tatiana show off her Negator ability while assisting her friends.

Truth be told, there wasn’t much to this chapter, but we did get even more Tatiana backstory which definitely fleshed out her character more and made her motivation to protect Fuuko even more understandable. The plot didn’t progress all that much, but Tatiana did create an opportunity for Andy to fight the Unrepair Negator once again.

This chapter was Tatiana’s, and I’m not complaining about that. She is the precious bean that I needed to latch onto in this series because Fuuko just isn’t doing it for me. Her backstory, as with many Negators, is a tragic one but through the flashback, I came to appreciate not only her but the other Negator Billy even more. I’m enjoying the cute companionship these two characters share and since Billy has been a character I’ve been interested in since his first appearance just based on his design and apparent abilities alone I hope we get to see more of them together in the future.

I will say though that next chapter I really want to dive into some of the villain Negator’s abilities and stories as well. In this chapter due to Tatiana’s ability two villains were seemingly wiped out in an instant and while this was very cool on Tatiana’s part I will be a bit disappointed if they’re really gone because we didn’t get to see much of their powers at work. Then again, since Negator powers circulate to another person when the previous user dies, I guess we could see the powers reappear in another person later on.

The art for this chapter was fairly standard for the series, but Tatiana’s power made for a couple of panels that looked really interesting. Undead Unluck really loves large-scale catastrophic damage and Yoshifumi Tozuka translates his vision well onto the page.

Overall, another fine chapter in the series. It’s still crazy for me to look back at the first chapter and then to the current one. I can’t believe I’m invested in this series now.
