Manga Review: Chainsaw Man Chapter 148

The week off took forever, but we are back with the latest chapter of Chainsaw Man! Chapter 148 follows up Quanxi’s sweet murder montage as the group finds themselves in front of a terrified mob.

Quanxi gets to do one more cool thing in this chapter as she rescues the gang again. Things are getting heated and there isn’t much trust going around, especially with an angry mob who thinks he will turn into a mindless chainsaw fiend soon. Fujimoto gives the reader tons of shots of stressed faces, with expressions that successfully add to this chapter’s tension.

Meanwhile, things jump back to Asa (Finally) as we are treated to another stellar use of her powers. It was hinted earlier that spreading fear would make the War Devil stronger, and that’s quickly being realized in this chapter. It’s another fast-paced chapter with more exposition than the last, but it’s mostly just cool setpieces. Even though this chapter is 17 pages long, it feels quick again, going by in just a couple of minutes.

This chapter of Chainsaw Man is nothing short of exciting, and as things continue to rev up, it’s hard to see it slowing down any time soon.
