Finally, some action.
You know that part in crime movies where the detectives and the rest of law enforcement finally get enough going their way to shut down a shady corporation or other organization? It’s usually accompanied by some song that varies in tone while viewers are treated to a montage of all the bigwigs getting arrested. For just a moment, I thought this chapter would be that scenario, especially with how much visual media Fujimoto draws from.
This isn’t exactly that, but its close.
It should shock no one that expectations are subverted in chapter 145 of Chainsaw Man. The Chainsaw Man has been has been taken over and all of those firearms were seized. Damage control is underway and the media is being brought in to give the public the best image about this high-profile organization (cult) going down. Still, the “good guys” haven’t won. The naming of the recently defeated devil only raises more questions, and the arrest of one of their targets is a little ominous. Nothing ever good happens when someone sings Kumbaya.
Asa gets some time on panel again, and readers are almost treated to her doing another cool thing when making a creative weapon, but she is disarmed by another character who has played a major role but is still mysterious. Maybe he will play his hand soon and we can get down to some motivations. After all, part 2 has been going on for some time now, and it’s about time for us to get answers, right?
Chainsaw Man Chapter 145 is a fun surprising ride that entertains from beginning to end.
I also still have hope that Reze will come back, no matter how unlikely that is at this point. Please, bring her back.
