    Chainsaw Man Chapter 141

    Mangaka: Tatsuki Fujimoto

    Where To Read: VIZ Media

This new Chainsaw Man religion is really something, huh? So is the new status quo for Denji. The last few chapters have been pretty quiet, but not without things to talk about.

Chainsaw Man‘s 141st chapter starts with silly branding that seems to both disgust and excite Denji. The item is half off making it hard to tell if the entire reason he picked it up is financial or for his ego, and that being left up to interpretation highlights how Denji is still hard to read sometimes. He isn’t the same one-note character that he was during the previous saga, but that old Denji still bleeds into every chapter. He is now a compelling character who has the potential to be a favorite amongst Shounen Jump’s prolific catalog of protagonists.

The majority of the chapter continues to highlight how much Denji has changed. He now has something to protect and a reason to make lifestyle changes that aren’t driven by his selfish desires. He isn’t noble, but it’s entertaining to see him go through this conflict, making sacrifices and potentially giving up his happiness for another person. This chapter is almost melancholy, without much humor or action throughout.

Still, there is a little of that humor here. The chapter ends with a meeting and has one of my favorite lines/panels of the month. The conversation hints at things ramping up heavily soon. Unfortunately, we will need to wait two weeks to see just how bad things are going to get.

We all know Chainsaw Man will rip out of Denji eventually, but when? What will push him to finally do it?

    8.0

Chainsaw Man is sort of a bummer this week, but that doesn't stop it from being another great chapter.

Marcus isn't good at a lot, but he is an expert at replaying Final Fantasy games despite there being a lot of good stuff out there. He also loves comics, board games, and anime. He thinks Chip Zdarsky is a treasure.
