    Comic Review: W0RLDTR33 #4

    Publisher: Image Comics

    Writer: James Tynion IV

Artists: Fernando Blanco & Jordie Bellaire

    Letterer: Aditya Bidikar

W0RLDTR33 takes us on a thoughtful, harrowing, and gripping journey where the internet becomes a weapon to manipulate people into doing terrible things. While the last two issues left many questions unanswered, they were not lacking in impressive worldbuilding and character development. Now, W0RLDTR33 #4 offers a flood of context, and it’s a doozy.

The latest installment of W0RLDTR33 is dense and filled with thrills. With the good guys on the verge of losing one of their own, it’s a race against the clock to purge whatever is in their ally. Writer James Tynion IV finally provides a glimpse of what the possessed people experience when exposed to W0RLDTR33, and its dark. Fernando Blanco & Jordie Bellaire deserve accolades for their incredible portrayal of this monstrosity; it’s nothing short of unnerving.

Tynion continues to ramp up the stakes while enriching the characters’ depth. The two agents stand out as some of my favorites, with natural dialogue that reveals unexpected layers for such a young series. Their chemistry is tremendous, and readers will be captivated even during the quiet moments. What’s great is that they are not the only characters with great interactions, and it’s easy to become attached to everyone in this comic.

Blanco’s skillful framing of each panel keeps every page exciting, even during the quieter moments. Thankfully, this issue strikes the right balance between loud and somber. There’s so much to take in, especially when readers get a glimpse of the Undernet. Jordie Bellaire and Aditya Bidikar continue to bring their A-games.

Bellaire’s colors add depth to Blanco’s art and cleverly convey the messed-up results of the Undernet. The funky blues, reds, and purples clearly signal that something sinister is at play, and Bidikar’s letters enhance the experience with gnarly sound effects. Readers can still hear the panels in this series, and it’s absolutely awful. Together, they create a fantastic collaborative effort that showcases the best that the medium has to offer.

W0RLDTR33#4 is a must-read issue that ramps everything up, providing both spine-chilling revelations and insightful character moments. James Tynion IV, Fernando Blanco, Jordie Bellaire, and Aditya Bidikar’s talents shine, making this comic a thrilling and visually stunning experience.

Marcus isn't good at a lot, but he is an expert at replaying Final Fantasy games despite there being a lot of good stuff out there. He also loves comics, board games, and anime. He thinks Chip Zdarsky is a treasure.
