    Unnatural #8

    Image Comics

    Writer & Artist: Mirka Andolfo

Andolfo vehemently and violently closes out the second arc of Unnatural, revealing answers to questions we’ve had for months.

Leslie, Khal, and Saya, the backstabber, are on the lam headed to Tijoux to find some answers.  Leslie’s internal conflict with the albino continues to gnaw at her core, lessening her determination  Could this be the end to Leslie’s resolve? Will it finally be too much for Leslie to handle? So much is foreshadowed in this issue, and I can barely contain myself from spoilers!

    Unnatural #8

Prior to their arrival to Tijoux, which seemed too easy to the diminishing list of characters, we witness a conversation between Jones and The Glance foreshadowing an elaborate plan. This plan is unbeknownst to Jones, suggesting he’s not as close to The Glance as he’d like to be.

Tijoux is supposed to be an ancient hidden ground shrouded in religious mystery, yet it’s more like an abandoned theme park with a wacky tour guide. Leslie, Khal, and Saya are thrown off by this, but Leslie feels a strong connection to Tijoux nonetheless.

Just as I started to wonder where things were going with this issue, the action went down, and the group was caught off guard. Leslie gets desperate and makes a rash and shocking decision. Andolfo finally reveals who The Glance is. There’s blood everywhere!

The next issue, which comes out May 8, promises to divulge more about Glance’s secret origins and the results of Leslie’s decision. The next issue will also, unfortunately, be the first in the last arc of this brilliant series. I have to commend Andolfo on her pacing for each arc. The action has never gotten slow, and I’ve never felt overwhelmed with questions. She has delivered on every promise in the perfect amount of time.

    Unnatural #8

The art and colors in this issue were incredible, as always. The one thing I had an issue with was some of the dialogue. At times it felt jarring and unnatural, no pun intended. The story itself and the majority of the dialogue were spot on, though.

I can’t wait to see how Andolfo wraps this up as I know it will be neat and climactic. I do, however, hate that it will all be over soon.

Often being mistaken for a teenager herself, Chelsea is a teacher in Arkansas, which you've probably never been to. She is a competitive runner and lover of Image Comics. Although she loves to read and watch new content, she can't help but rewatch episodes of The Office, which is really hurting her chances of finishing her own novel.
