Spider-Man & Venom: Double Trouble #3
Marvel Comics
Writer: Mariko Tamaki
Artist: Gurihiru
It’s the first week of the new year and do you know what that means? New comics! Specifically, I get to read the third part of Spider-man & Venom: Double trouble. I’ve just been loving this comic so far and I’m a little excited. It’s not often that I come across a non-canon series with this kind of daft sense of humour. Anyway, let’s see if this latest issue lives up to the standards set by the last two.
In this issue, we get to see the aftermath of Venoms victory on “Battle of the heroes”, in Spider-man’s body of course. Being Venom he immediately starts taunting the losers and advertising products with his newfound celebrity. This issue has a little less going on than the previous two. It’s mostly focused on getting Spider-man & Venom back together and the resulting arguments over the body-switching from the first issue. It’s still a very entertaining issue and sets up the next issue well but you can see that Tamaki is using this issue as a chance to cool the readers down a bit before the finale.
Gurihiru’s artwork continues to blow my mind. It’s so simple but it’s also incredibly charming. The little details like the variety of facial expressions on background characters add so much life to this comic.
Overall this is a solid issue. It’s got a great sense of humour just like the past two issues and the art is phenomenal. It’s a little bit formulaic at times but this is still a fun read. I highly recommend it and the series as a whole.
Spider-man & Venom: Double trouble #3
This is an incredibly funny book with brilliant artwork and a hilarious story. The personalities of the main characters work so well together and they still feel similar to the main comic series' they appear in. Issue 3 is a great piece of work, I recommend it and I'm looking forward to the final issue.
