DC Comics Writer: James Tynion IV Artists: Jorge Jimenez, Tomeu Morey Letters: Clayton Cowles The Cowardly Lot arc rolls on with its second part in this issue. The second part of new story arcs can be pretty hit or miss. Sometimes, they contain the bare minimum required to push a single story forward. Other times, they can exceed all expectations and keep you just as invested as you were when you read the first issue. I think the second part is the most important because the first part garnered your attention, and it’s up to the second part to…

Batman (2016-) #83 DC Comics Writer: Tom King Artists: Mikel Janin, Jordie Bellaire My fears of Tom King’s final arc on Batman being a flop is almost nonexistent at this point, and that’s mainly attributed to how great the last few issues of “City of Bane” have been. Batman #83 follows suit, as it is a harrowing – yet beautiful – issue. Earlier within this arc, Bane has taken Gotham hostage, hence the name of the arc. He also said that if any of the Bat-Family tries to interfere with his plans, there will be major consequences. Damian Wayne was…

Batman (2016-) #82 DC Comics Writer: Tom King Artist: Mikel Janin, Jordie Bellaire Picking up right where the last issue left off, Batman #82 is 20 pages of a brawl that has a very shocking conclusion. A lot of the previous issues within the City of Bane storyline have been a little slow. Specifically, the issues about Batman and Catwoman in Hawaii (yes, that’s a real thing) where there no was nothing shown from Gotham. The last two issues which depicted the return of the Dark Knight, along with Catwoman, to Gotham were pretty damn good. I’m happy to…

Spider-Man: Full Circle #1 Marvel Comics Jonathan Hickman, Chris Bachalo, Gerry Duggan, Greg Smallwood, Nick Spencer, Mike Allred, Kelly Thompson, Valerio Schiti, Al Ewing, Chris Sprouse, Chip Zdarsky, Rachael Stott, Jason Aaron, Cameron Stewart, Mark Bagley Finally, after such a long time, Marvel has published another comic containing their virtually unknown character, Spider-Man. I’m so happy this z-list hero is finally pulling through the ranks and having more stories written about him. I’m glad Marvel is giving the little guy a chance. Okay, jokes aside, Spider-Man: Full Circle is not your average one shot. It’s an 80-page story told in…

Batman (2016-) Annual #4 DC Comics Tom King, Jorge Fornes, Mike Norton and Dave Stewart No matter what your opinion is on the Rebirth run of Batman, every single Annual issue that’s been released has been solid. The first one was a little odd, acting as an anthology instead of one extra-sized story. Every other annual, including this one, has been just one story with only 1 or 2 artists. The last 2 annuals have ended up being some highly memorable Batman tales that no fan should miss. I’m immensely glad to say that, not only does Batman Annual #4…

This review also WILL contain spoilers for Absolute Carnage, so IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED, scroll down to the tl;dr verdict. Good ol’ Webhead’s had his hands full ever since the re-emergence of Cletus Kasady – better known as the maniacal and twisted Carnage. Cletus has been trying to round…

Batman (2016-) #78 DC Comics Writer: Tom King Artists: Clay Mann  Tomeu Morey City of Bane rolls on… I think? This issue takes a break from all the chaos in Gotham and what we have with Batman #78 is a whole comic dedicated to the recovery of Bruce Wayne that also addresses the relationship status of Bruce and Selina Kyle – Catwoman. This is the first time since the wedding issue (Batman #50) that the duo has interacted with one another. Bruce and Selina are both staying at a tropical resort while incognito, while both are aware that Bane has…

Doomsday Clock #11 DC Comics Geoff Johns, Gary Frank and Brad Anderson It feels like it’s been forever since the last issue of this apparently essential series was released. Issue 10 came out in May, a whole 4 months ago. So, with that said, I think it’s important to give you a quick rundown of what happened in the last 2 issues. Issue 9 had just about every hero in the DCU, minus The Trinity, traveling to Mars to confront Doctor Manhattan. Superman is in a comatose state. Batman is recovering from injuries. Both heroes were afflicted by Doctor…

History of the Marvel Universe #2 Marvel Comics Writers: Mark Waid Artist: Javier Rodriguez Picking up seamlessly where the previous issue left off, History of the Marvel #2 gets into the Golden Age and even a bit of the Silver Age. If you don’t know what’s going on, Franklin Richards is standing at the end of time with his Herald, Galactus. Before the universe ends, Franklin asks Galactus to tell him the history of this universe. That’s basically the whole premise of this series, thus far. This issue is chock full of information, and it doesn’t really feel overstuffed like…

Silver Surfer Black #3 Marvel Comics Donny Cates, Tradd Moore, Dave Stewart With Silver Surfer Black, the trio of Donny Cates, Tradd Moore and Dave Stewart seem to outdo themselves and beautifully craft an issue that was better than the last, wondrous issue. This comic is just glistening with cosmic admiration and love for everything related to the Silver Surfer and the Marvel Universe. This issue begins with the Surfer dreaming of the past, where he was lying next to Shalla-Bal on his homeworld of Zenn-La. The narration that’s juxtaposed with this dream has Norrin Radd reminiscing of better times.…
