Transformers/My Little Pony #4 IDW Publishing Writers: Ian Flynn & James Asmus Artists: Sara Pitre-Durocher & Tony Fleecs It’s time for the final issue in this surprisingly fun little crossover. We’re being treated to two stories as usual in this issue. The first, “Strength in Numbers” focuses on Applejack as the Insecticons swarm her farm. The second is the aptly titled “Finale”. On paper, that should feature Twilight Sparkle and Optimus Prime solving the threat of Chrysalis and the Decepticons. I’ve stated before how much I’ve been enjoying this series so I’m hoping this last issue won’t disappoint. Let’s see.…

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow #4 BOOM! Studios Writer: Mariko Tamaki Artist: Natacha Bustos I don’t think I’ve ever given a bad review for a comic on this site. I’ve said books were of average quality but I don’t think I’ve reviewed a bad comic. As a reviewer, I feel I should be as impartial as I can. I like Willow, the character. Alyson Hannigan did a great job playing the character in the TV shows. One of my favourite Buffy characters next to Spike and Buffy herself. Mariko Tamaki has done a good job on the previous three issues.…

Transformers/My Little Pony #3 IDW Comics Writers: James Asmus, Sam Maggs Artists: Priscilla Tramontano, Jack Lawrence My Little Pony and Transformers. A crossover that probably shouldn’t work and yet it does. Not only that but this series has actually made a brony out of me. My Little Pony has spent such a long time just being this repetitive, bland show that never went anywhere. It’s why I never enjoyed it as a child. This series has convinced me otherwise though. These ponies can be fun and have interesting personalities. Now we’re on the penultimate issue with stories focusing on Fluttershy…

Justice League Dark #26 DC Comics Writer: Ram V Artist: Amancay Nahuelpan Justice League Dark has fundamentally been a series focused on magic since its beginning. We’ve seen stories tackling the corruption of magic, the abuse of magic, and lately the price of using magic. One subject hasn’t really been touched upon though. What gives magic its power? In this latest issue of Justice League Dark, Ram V seeks to answer this question. Let’s see how that goes. This issue picks up exactly where the last one ended. Detective Chimp has tracked John Constantine down to a bar where John…

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow #3 BOOM! Studios Writer: Mariko Tamaki Artist: Natacha Bustos The latest issue of “Willow” is out. Our main character has been staying in this mysterious town of Abhainn. Here she’s met a woman named Aelara who seems to have an almost hypnotic effect on her. She easily convinces Willow to stay in the town and join her at a bonfire when the witch considers leaving. Despite the icy reception, Willow was receiving from the town residents she seemed happy to stay for the event. It felt almost unnatural how our protagonist’s mindset would change after…

Faithless II #4 BOOM! Studios Writer: Brian Azzarello Artist: Maria Llovet The fourth issue of Faithless has just been released and I think it’s important to recap what the series is about. Faithless is mainly an erotic horror series about a young girl called Faith who has supernatural powers. Throughout the series, she’s slowly being seduced by characters who are meant to symbolise evil forces such as Satan. As the series goes on Faith starts to use her powers more and more and in increasingly violent ways. It gets to a point where it’s hard to tell who’s responsible for…

Justice League Dark #25 DC Comics Writer: Ram V Artist: Amancay Nahuelpan The battle with the Upside-Down Man continues in the newest issue of Justice League Dark. Previously, we’d seen Zatanna learn that her deceased father was trapped in a dimension controlled by this mysterious being. That revelation led to Zatanna gathering materials to try and rescue her father. Meanwhile, the rest of the league dealt with their own personal issues ahead of the encounter. Wonder Woman eventually joined Zatanna to travel to the dimension of this Upside-Down man and that’s where this issue begins. The issue is fairly simple.…

Lost Soldiers #2 Image Comics Writer: Ales Kot Artists: Luca Casalanguida, Heather Moore Back in July, I got the opportunity to read the first issue of Image’s new “Lost Soldiers” series. I wasn’t expecting too much. I’ve seen war and its effects portrayed in numerous forms of media before so I expected more of the same. That first issue of “Lost Soldiers” blew me away though. The art and the handling of these themes about age, the horrors of war, and PTSD were simply amazing. I was so impressed that it became my pick for the best comic of the…

Transformers/My Little Pony #2 IDW Publishing Writers: Ian Flynn, Sam Maggs Artists: Casey W. Coller, Sara Pitre-Durocher The second part of this strange little crossover between the Transformers and My Little Pony is finally upon us. I was pleasantly surprised by the first entry in this series. The basic premise is that a malfunctioning space-bridge has caused the Transformers to end up in Equestria. The evil Decepticons are causing havoc, meanwhile the heroic Autobots are attempting to fit in with the local inhabitants. Naturally, this leads to a lot of comedy and cheesy dialogue that This issue, much like the…
