That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Episode 2
Studio: 8Bit
Genre: Fantasy, Comedy
Stream: Crunchyroll
I was pleasantly surprised by the first episode of That Time I got Reincarnated As a Slime and believed that it deserved attention due to the amount of potential it has. After watching the second episode, it’s safe to say that this isekai is special, especially compared to the rest of the genre.
The second episode of the series serves to further develop the world around the new slime protagonist. A good chunk of the episode is the interaction between the slime and dragon. The dialogue is full of charm, and is mostly funny, especially because of the dragon’s tsundere personality.
About halfway through the dialogue, the story shifts to the world outside of the cave, which is full of the usual politics that humans in the genre bring with them. Eventually, some humans run into the protagonist, which ultimately serves as a way to finally advance the plot. He later runs into a group of goblins, which are much more likable than they usually are in fantasy anime.
The charm is maintained throughout the episode, while the production is still of high quality. The animation is striking, with some transformation and skill sequences truly shining. The sound is fun, with soothing music to support the carefree tone of the series.
That Time I got Reincarnated As a Slime continues to impress through its second episode. The production is just as solid as it was a week ago, showing the care that the studio has for the franchise. While it might feel like there isn’t a lot of plot progression, this anime still feels rather cozy. This is a refreshing isekai that deserves to be watched by fantasy fans.
