Action Taimanin is the latest Action-roleplaying gacha game to hit the Western market. The recently released Genshin Impact has a much broader appeal, while Action Taimanin uses fanservice as its main appeal. Here are our first impressions of Action Taimanin.
The Good
The first thing players will likely notice are solid graphics. This is the second great looking mobile game to come out this month. The graphics are clean, making the action easy to follow.
Everything runs smoothly. The action runs at a steady framerate and I didn’t run into any performance issues (Played on Google Pixel 4). The game doesn’t throw too many enemies at the player at once, so this might not be too surprising.
Re-rolling is easy enough. Players can do a few multi-rolls after around 20 minutes of navigating tutorials. From what I can tell, players can’t skip tutorials.
The game is pretty easy to play if players don’t want to spend any money. Premium currency is given at a decent rate, and multipools can be done quite regularly. All the story and most of the event content can be done without whaling.
The UI is clean. The menus are easy to navigate through, too. Most gacha games botch their UIs, but Action Taimanin keeps it simple and it works. The futuristic ninja aesthetic is neat and suits the game.
The Bad
The physics are ridiculous. The women’s bodies jiggle everywhere, often in unrealistic ways. Of course, if you are playing this game you are probably into this kind of fanservice and don’t mind. For the average player though, this will be a distraction from the rest of the game.
There is a stamina system that slows down player progression. While players can use items to restore stamina, it’s better to use these for events.
The combat feels uninspired. With games like Honkai Impact and Dragalia Lost already available, Action Tamanin just feels underwhelming. If you have played any other action gacha games, you have played Action Taimanin.
The lack of enemy types is disappointing. The same enemy models and types are recycled again and again throughout the story content.
The Mixed
The fanservice is on another level. Action Taimanin is based on a hentai series, so the character models are oversexualized. If you are into this, you will love what this game throws at you. If not, you are better off playing another action game.
Gacha is limited to supporting characters, so you won’t see your pulled characters running around. Some players like seeing their pulled characters in action. In Action Taimanin, pulled characters are used for stat boosts and fancy jpegs.
Players can strengthen their characters, weapons, and supports. This gives a good feeling of progression. There is a dupe system involved, but it isn’t too intrusive on the overall experience.
