5 New Comics Books to Look out for in August 2018

The major comic book publishers released their August 2018 solicitations, and with that comes all of the buzz about new #1s! Here is a quick look at five new books we are looking forward to in August.

    Fantastic Four #1FF2018001_Cov_REV2

It took too long for the Fantastic Four to return to their own series. Marvel’s best family has been absent for three years, but will finally be returning with Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli leading the way. This is a solid creative team that will hopefully give these characters the welcome they deserve.

    West Coast Avengers #1

The Hawkeyes are back! Clint and Kate are returning with their own Avengers team! The new West Coast Avengers also features “A guy named Fuse,” America Chavez, Gwenpool, and Kid Omega. While we aren’t the biggest fans of Gwenpool around here, we are still happy to see our favorite archers and America back.

    Leviathan #1

First off, if you haven’t read Chew yet, you should remedy that immediately. Now that that’s out of the way, John Layman has a new series with Nick Pitarra, the legendary artist of The Manhattan Projects. These two wild creators are bringing us a book about a guy on beer run who ends up finding himself with a giant monster from hell. This series is promised to be fast and eye-popping, so expect a gem.

Adventures of the Super Sons #1

Peter J Tomasi bringing the Super Sons back is a dream come true. Even if it is only a 12 issue miniseries, this is bound to be another success for DC. Expect a fun series with an incredible bromance.

    Cold Spots #1

Cullen Bunn has some pretty good creator-owned books, and I’m sure this one is going to be a hit. Lately, Image has had some quality horror series, so I hope that Cold Spots can keep the trend going. Comparisons to Ten Grand has us even more excited about this one.

Marcus isn't good at a lot, but he is an expert at replaying Final Fantasy games despite there being a lot of good stuff out there. He also loves comics, board games, and anime. He thinks Chip Zdarsky is a treasure.
